5 Phase Plan

The Collaboration Foundation will oversee 5 ambitious collaborative art projects designed to bring the world together. Each phase will grow in scale while addressing a different social issue.

Phase I :: The 1 Second Film

The 1 Second Film will create the 'World's Biggest Shortest Film' while laying the foundation for our various sequels. The animation was made in one night during a single collaborative event at CalArts on March 8, 2001 (International Women's Day). Using innovative micro-fundraising, the film will build toward a tipping point, and will include a feature-length documentary during the estimated 90-minutes of credits. All profits raised by the finished film will be donated to the Global Fund for Women to support women's human rights.

Phase II :: The 2 Second Film

The 2 Second Film will attempt to address the global impact of September 11th, 2001. The film will be two seconds long, made during two simultaneous events in different parts of the world. Each event will create one second of the animation that will then be combined. The animation will consist of large collaborativ murals and will depict two seconds of the 2nd airplane hitting the 2nd trade tower. One second of the animation will be made in New York while the other second is being made in an Afghanistan. International artists will direct the paintings while people attending the events help paint the frames; musicians from around the world will be invited to perform. The goal of The 2nd Second Film is to address a moment that continues to challenge the world by providing a platform for non-violent expression and dialogue to build cultural bridges. All profits raised from Phase 2 will be donated to civilian casualties in Afghanistan and NY.

Phase III :: The 3-D Second Film

THE 3-D SECOND FILM will be 3 seconds long and will address Global Warming. And yes, it will be in3-D! The animation will be created during 3 simultaneous events, each taking place in a different location around the world. Each event will create 24 large three-dimensional frames that will be filmed stereoscopically, resulting in three-seconds of 3-D animation. The events will feature live-music and performances. All proceeds from the events and the finished film will benefit the fight against Global Warming.

Phase IV :: The 111 Second Festival

THE 111 SECOND FESTIVAL will invite people around the world to submit their ideas to create a 1 Second Film. Each moment submitted will also include a related social cause. The Collaboration foundation will select 111 of the best submissions and provide the seed money to create 111 simultaneous events around the world.

Each event will create one-second of animation while raising money and awareness for 111 different causes. Once completed, we will stream all 111 moments together to create THE 111 SECOND FILM FESTIVAL, along with a documentary about the various events. THE 111 SECOND FESTIVAL will expand the infrastructure necessary for executing Phase 5.

Phase V :: The 11,111 Second Film

The 11,111 SECOND FILM will be a narrative movie lasting 11,111 seconds (approximately 180 minutes). The film will be divided into two parts, a 90-minute animated feature film followed by a 90-minute credit-sequence with ‘making of’ documentary. The 90-minutes of animation will be narrative, with an original story to be written by an established screen writer.

The 90-minutes of animation will be made during thousands of simultaneous events around the world, with each event making one-second or more of the animation. In 24 hours, 65,000 paintings will have been completed around the world, with the help of millions of people. These paintings will be combined to create 90-minutes of seamless animation. All proceeds raised by Phase 5 will be put toward ending Global Poverty.

We believe this film has the potential to become one of the largest collaborative works-of-art ever made, while setting a new standard for what is possible when the world works together.
