While completing The 1 Second Film, we intend to create a Tipping Point, bringing together as many people as we can. Here is our plan:
| |
Step 1: Automate Website |
The first step was creating the automated website we now have, streamlining our donation process and giving our producers unique profiles. This was a huge task which took years of fundraising $1 at a time, entering over 7,000 producers by hand, and lots of hard learned web lessons. The completion of Step 1 allows us to start to scale up while empowering our producers to participate more. We plan to continue developing our site as our project grows, with the goal of forming a collaborative community to help with future collaborative projects.

Step 2: Road to Oprah Quest |
No tipping point is complete without trying to get Oprah on board. We call this quest our "Road to Oprah" - our goal is to ask Oprah for $1 to join our producers. To realize this goal, we have purchased a used school bus to drive to Chicago. Because this film is really about the journey, we will be visiting universities and house parties along the way, sharing The 1 Second Film and our 5 Phase Plan with as many people as we can. The Road to Oprah is a collaborative effort, organized with the help of our producers across the country. Our Road to Opra quest will be included as part of our "making of" documentary. For more info, visit www.roadtooprah.com
ROAD TO OPRAH UPDATE: We successfully completed a 10,000 mile bio-diesel tour across the US, and had an amazing journey, visiting 28 states in 30 days, and presenting at Google, YouTube, Universities, Art Galleries, Coffee Shops, skate parks, a Veteran's Home, etc. Over 1,000 new producers joined... but when we arrived in Chicago, Oprah was in Africa! We are now editing over 80 hours of road trip footage to send to Oprah's producers, with the possibility of driving back! :)
We are now fundraising to cover editing. Check our Budget Page for updates.

Step 3: World Premiere
|
After completing Step 2, we hope to have raised finishing funds to complete our documentary and begin to prepare for our 70mm World Premiere. This will be the only 70mm screening of our film ever. Directly after the premiere, our 12 frames of animation will be auctioned off to raise money for the Global Fund for Women. The film will later be released worldwide on DVD. All profits raised will be donated to charity.
We need producers to help make this happen!
This is just a plan. We need you to help make it real! We have no guarantee things will go according to plan, but it's going to be a fun challenge, and we look forward to working with as many people as we can.
