Known for his uncanny ability to cut to the raw essence of whomever appears before his lens, Mr. Purnell's vision is at once humorous, tragic, often beautiful, and always provocative.
Chris has been awarded Gold in the British Institute Of Professional Photography awards 2006, Short-listed for Young Scottish Photojournalist 2006, Awarded runner up in the Ilford Photo Competition 2006, and was winner of the 2006 Kentmere Photographic Awards. Chris has been the subject of numerous group shows as well as one man shows at esteemed galleries in Scotland, England, France, Italy and Germany.
Chris has recently made the transition from still photography to film, helming music videos for 10th Commandment, All The Girls and The Ghosties. His first short film "Dad Like Surprises" was premiered at the Tribecca film festival, New York in 2006 and earned Chris a commendation from The Seattle Film Festival Jury for achievements in writing. His feature film debut "Don't Look At Me (I'm Ugly In The Morning)" is currently in post-production and is sure to captivate audiences with its stark portrayal of a family's struggle with love and hate.
