Biography

Suzie Sebastian started her career in the film industry in 1985. For nearly seven years she was a successful television producer and production manager, producing many of the major commercials seen on television. Clients such as Coca Cola, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Nike and Toyota were common. She worked on several features as a Producer and Production Manager. But her true desire was always to work in documentaries that focused on marine wildlife.

In 1991, she relocated back to Santa Barbara and teamed together with marine wildlife filmmaker Tom Campbell. An excellent scuba diver, Suzie has logged hundreds of dives in countries around the world. She has worked extensively with whales, dolphins and sharks filming in many of the most exotic dive locations. Her most memorable expeditions include filming the White Sharks in South Africa, the Galapagos Islands for a three-week journey above and below the waters surrounding the islands and Papua New Guinea for two weeks to film exotic and rare sea creatures.

She has worked as a field producer and assistant cameraperson coordinating assignments for clients such as Continental Airlines, the Los Angeles Times, the BBC and others. Her marketing ability has earned her awards for the outstanding poster design she created in the popular “It’s Our World Too” series of wildlife posters. She Co-produced “Class 234- a six part series for the Discovery Channel and was the first female filmmaker allowed in the lock out chamber with the US Navy Seals during training sessions.

Experienced both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, she continues to freelance on her own as a Film Producer for movies, commercials and documentaries. In 1992, she doubled for Sarah Purcell in a Yellow Pages commercial shot by Al Giddings. In August of 1996, The Learning Channel featured Suzie and her work on the “Sea Tek” television program

In 1992, she worked with Tom Campbell to help design several photographic items. Perhaps their most significant contribution was the introduction of the Technical Lighting Control underwater strobe arm system. Now considered the standard by much of the world and endorsed by most leading professional underwater shooters. The company was later sold to Nikon.

In 2006, she produced the feature Film “Breathe” with Director Don Murray. Suzie is currently producing her first Independent underwater documentary “Blue Revolution” funded by the Save Our Seas Foundation. Other credits include “FBI: Critical Incident”, “How to Survive and “Elvis, Long Live the King.

Suzie feels that the most important contribution anyone involved filmmaking can make is to create an awareness that will protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

Why I'm producing The 1 Second Film:

Because you can change the world in 1 second. Thousands of people working together making change globally. E=MC Squared!

Some things I'm doing to help make this film:

Telling friends about the one second film project.

Perfect Moment

Life is filled with so many perfect moments. My most important seconds that I want to record right now are with my 16 month twin girls Kate and Annie. The loves of my life. Second by second these moments fly by never to be repeated exactly alike again.
