Born in Sahiwal (near Sargoda) India (now Pakistan) on the 24th of September, 1917 as the son of an Engineer. Grew up on family lands and bathed his pet Water Buffalo in the river before annointing it with fresh butter as a child. Left school in the 8th grade to attend to family affairs, supported his family, learned to sew, and became a 'tailor' eventually managing a parachute factory for the British till 1947 when India became independent. Resigned his post and started the 1st 'ready made' garment factory in India. Eventually became an entrepreneur and social worker and among other things was President of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Small Industries Association in Madras, India; started the 1st 'British style' Confirming House in India...the Indian Industries Export House, Ltd.; and was a founding supporter of the Stree Seva Mandir (Foundation for Destitute Women) in Madras before his untimely death at the age of 58 on the 4th of March, 1975.
