This is the grant that provided the seed funds for this project, and was used to buy supplies for painting the frames of animation and organizing the party. Additional funds were raised by selling producer credits for $1 to CalArts students, faculty, and the various departments.
California Institute of the Arts was established in 1961 by Walt and Roy Disney. The founding vision behind CalArts was the creation of an environment where cross-pollination between artistic disciplines could be fostered as never before. The CalArts Interschool Grant was awarded to student projects that create collaborative work that integrates the school's various departments. Unfortunately, the grant has since been discontinued!
Why I'm producing The 1 Second Film:
The 1 Second Film proposal incorporated every department of CalArts and was awarded the maximum amount of $1,500 to facilitate the March 8th, 2001 collaborative animation event.
