Cloud Based Film editing

I notice one of the next steps listed is film editing and was wondering what sort of software/environment is needed for that and can things be broken down into tasks? If it can be setup to run on a linux basis with open source software, then one thing to think about is setting things up using Amazon Web Services: http://aws.amazon.com/ IE, setup a project management system where the tasks are listed, store the video data in S3 buckets under a 1SecondFilm account, and setup a complete video editing "package" image[linux 64 bit and maybe 32 bit images] so that anyone can setup their own Amazon AWS account, launch the pre-built image and grab a task, make changes and submit them back for a maintainer to review and incorporate the best changes, etc. Crowd-source the whole editing process using the Cloud! *NOTE* I can handle the technical end of doing this sort of thing, I don't know the creative processing components though.....ie what sort of software is needed, what things need to be done, etc.

We're currently planning to get a RAID hard drive setup. Still researching the best solutions. Will try to get them donated if possible. Editing collaboratively is a cool idea, and I have heard of some projects doing this (i.e. http://echochamberproject.com), but we're not planning to do that with this film. There are all ready too many experimental components. For editing we're planning to work with a single editor.  We will continue crowdfunding online, and allow people to upload/submit content to be included in the documentary. However, thanks for the offer to help with the cloud tech! There is a lot of collab possibilities to explore!
