I just came across 'Step it Up' in this month's issue of Good Magazine and was really impressed.
Check out this campaign started by a bunch of students, organized entirely online:
"This April 14th, tens of thousands of Americans will gather all across the country at meaningful, iconic places to call for action on climate change. We will hike, bike, climb, walk, swim, kayak, canoe, or simply sit or stand with banners of our call to action."
I'm planning on joining the bike march from downtown LA. You can use the site to find or start an action in your area.
The Step It Up 2007 rallies were a huge success, and a lot of fun. A great mix of on-line grassroots organization and real world action.
Here are some pics from our bike ride in Los Angeles from Union Station to Hollywood. This was only one of the thousands of events that happened simultaneously across America.
