The purpose of the 1 Second Kid is to teach kids how to use diffrent forms of artistic expression to express thier emotions.
We need parents, mentors, teachers and anyone eles that works with kids to join.
Start a 1 Second Kid group in your area, school or study group.
A 1 Second Kid group has kids use a form of artistic expression to tell the story of thier most important moment and how they felt during that moment.
What forms of artistic expression are allowed?
ALL!! Dance, poetry, painting, sculpting, drawing, photography, song writing, singing, playing an instrument, making a video, writing a script, short story writting, and on and on.
How will this help The 1 Second Foundation?
After your group finishes their projects have an exhibition of talent. Display works of art in the program and throughout your venue or school. As part of the exhibition have readings from short stories, act out the scripts, sing and dance. Collect donations, Charge a small admission maybe even auction off the works of art then donate those funds to The 1 Second Foundation. I will be working on an award system for all that particapate and am open to ideas of things the kids would prefer stickers, car window stickers, Award ribbons, Certificates or art supplies.
Welcome and please post when you start a group or if you have any questions or want to give us some updates so we can give your kids the kudos and encouragement they deserve!

Hey Hollie,
This is a GREAT idea with tons of potential, but we need to take it slow. We can not promote it yet as an official project of The 1 Second Foundation; we would need to pass it by our Board of Directors, etc. Also, "The 1 Second" is being registered as a Trademark for The 1 Second Foundation, to protect various projects such as this. I'm sure we can get permission for The 1 Second Kid, (or The 1 Second Kids?), but we need to do one thing at a time.
Let's start at the idea stage, try to bring other parents into the discussion, and brainstorm ways to implement it effectively. We should talk to teachers and schools in your area to get their thoughts. Then we can start to bring it into action on a small scale. Maybe see if we can get one art class to do it as a project, and then make a The 1 Second Kid section in our Gallery to display the work.
I'll start talking to some friends out here that teach kids with art.
Lets work out the bugs and make sure we have everything in the right place, and then start looking for ways to expand it.

I'd also suggest we eliminate the financial side of 'how this will help The 1 Second Foundation.' For now, lets focus this on spreading the idea of collaborative art. If we can get kids creating cool work, we can exhibit them in our sites Gallery section. Perhaps we could auction them off with proceeds going to our charitable beneficiary. The way this really helps The 1 Second Foundation is just by being awesome; it's another fun way to let people collaborate.
If kids want to become producers (with parental approval and supervision), perhaps we can brainstorm fun ways for kids to help fundraise to raise their '$1 or more', like the lemonade stand you all had in Florida.
Let's start making a list, and then we can create a packet that parents/teachers can download.

Hey Nirvan, still here waiting for the flag to be dropped so we can hit the ground running! Would be good to get things approved by the board of directors by Aug. So can start it off withhte new school year.

Hey Hollie, good to hear from you. Keep pokin me here cuz i get a little caught up in the 10,000 details.
As for The 1 Second Kid, we just don't have the resources to develop this properly. At least not Officially through our Board. I didn't even have time to visit my friend's classroom before the year's end!
We have to focus everything on our road trip, fundraising, film production, and site development right now. Road Trip is just 3 months away and we have a TON to do. If we get more resources, we may be able to develop T1SKid down the line. In the meanwhile, please continue to explore the idea on a local level with Hunter and friends.
Try giving the kids an art project about their perfect moment and share the results. Perhaps we can develop something based on their feedback. I think you have a lot of good ideas with this, but I'm just overwhelmed with the logistics of all our other production priorities. Pursue it as an exploration, but don't present it as an "official program" of ours yet.
And if you want another Assignment, we are planning on driving through your town on our Road Trip. Tentative Schedule is here: http://www.roadtooprah.com. We are working on a new site with more details- but this has a basic schedule. Can you help set up an event for us? Some sort of fun fundraiser/presentation; we will be travelling with an awesome band that can perform as well. But we are interested in collaborating with local acts and artists along the way. Let me know your ideas.
A friends and family picnic style party would be pretty fun- with a bouncy castle?! :)
