My Bio
I’m 38 years old. I currently live in Encino, CA. I moved to the Los Angeles area from N. Virginia in March 2001 to pursue my passion for movies and screenwriting. Although I wish I had moved out to L.A. sooner, my business experience and education (BA -iterature & MBA) have been great training tools for me as a writer/producer. In March 2003 I launched my production company, Earth Lion Productions ( It’s been an adventure learning the ins/outs of filmmaking. Ideas and script pages are flowing like crazy, but financing has come at drip speed. Securing private investments need money (lawyers), time (months to years), and red tape = Security laws are no joke. Active investors want creative control. If I can avoid all of the above, I want to try. The goal…be like Mel and George. Striving towards self- financing, I put my screenwriting and editing skills that I’ve developed over the years (with UCLA training) and formed My Script Needs Help! ( It’s a screenplay coverage to ghostwriting service which has started to put me on the path towards self-financing my film projects. Within the next month (Aug ’06), I’ll also officially launch Earth Lion’s online superstore on eBay as another revenue stream ( One of the best moves I ever made was getting temporary work at the studios. I’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of people and work for some powerful people in the business. I’ve worked 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, MGM, Lions Gate, Focus Features, Disney, State Street Pictures, and several studio-based production companies. Seeing how these industry leaders operate day-to-day definitely reinforced the knowledge that financing is really the only thing holding me back. Find the money and we can make things happen. Find the projects that can make an impact and the track record will come. I currently have the following projects in various stages of development & financing: a sci-fi/psychological thriller short film, a horror feature film, an animated feature film, a psychological thriller feature film, a documentary on colorism (, and a romantic comedy feature film ( Good luck to all of us!
Why are you supporting The 1 Second Film project?
Why finance 1 Second Film? Because I love to see and support out-of-box creative thinkers. As a writer/producer, I believe this finacing & marketing concept is brilliant. It’s a Win/Win for everyone; you get financing, a charity gets a donation, and the supporters get IMDB credit. Brilliant!

Bonnie Rutherford's Perfect Moment

If you had to choose a 'perfect moment' from your life to make into a one-second film, what would it be?

Present = brainstorming great script ideas with my writer/boyfriend or being in the writer’s “Zone.” It’s an incredible high.
