My Bio

President of Cypress Films, Joseph founded the New York-based production company in 1987 in partnership with Jon Glascoe. His most recent producing and directing credit is EvenHand (Sundance Channel, Hart Sharp Video), shot on location in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to that he co-directed and co-produced (with Jon Glascoe) Cherry (Showcase Entertainment), a romantic comedy starring Shalom Harlow, Jake Weber and David McCallum. In 1997, Joseph and Jon produced Julian Po, a Cypress Films production of a Fine Line film starring Christian Slater, Robin Tunney, Michael Parks and Cherry Jones. Prior to joining Cypress, Joseph worked as a freelance location manager in New York, managing several films, including Five Corners (Jodie Foster, Tim Robbins, John Turturro), Broken Vows (Tommy Lee Jones) and Choices (George C. Scott, Jacqueline Bisset).

Why are you supporting The 1 Second Film project?

Well, I just signed up to be a producer. Does this mean that I can boss you around now? Please let me know as I haven't produced anything in a while and I am really itching to make someone's life (beside my own) miserable. What about the 10 second film? Don't pussyfoot around with another 1 second deal -- people want to see you move up in the world.

Site Upgrades: Varnish Installed + 2 Week Hiatus
This week, we finally got Varnish installed on our servers. Varnish helps our Drupal site performance by making better use of cache to serve up content (instead of the database), and will allow our site to handle a lot more anonymous visitors (hopefully!).

We are still making other site improvements. The site is still pretty slow, and we also need to improve performance for logged in users. Basically, there is a lot of tech to do. We don't have the resources to do everything, but we want to make sure we make the most of what we have.
