About Me
I was born in India, and grew up in Florida. I've been drawing since I was a kid, and would get really into the process, sometimes spending all day drawing a picture. The idea for this project began to develop back in '95 when I first started experimenting with animation. Like with drawing, I started getting super into the process, and would often spend several days making just a few seconds of animation. That's when I started to think about how much could happen in one-second of film. I then began brainstorming ways to compress as much as possible into one-second of animation, while exploring an idea of perfect moments. I took this train of thought to CalArts, where I went to graduate school to study Experimental Animation. The collaborative structure for this project developed while I was at CalArts. I started selling $1 Producer credits to raise funds for the animation event. After the March 8th, 2001 animation party, I decided to try expanding the concept beyond my school, and to try developing it into a non-profit. After graduating, I made a flier and began pitching the film to folks on the streets. Dollar-by-dollar we raised funds, met a ton of amazing people, and gradually built this website. We also formed The Collaboration Foundation to build a non-profit platform for future productions.
If you want to read more about how this project has developed, please check out our production timeline.
If you have any questions, please check our FAQ or our crew forum. You can also find me via twitter @1secondfilm and facebook, or contact me directly.
I want to give a Special Thanks to everyone who has helped this get so far! Without each and every one of you, this film would still be next to nothing.
I really believe in the idea. This is more than a movie to me; it is part of a larger movement. With so many tools connecting our world, there seems a need for projects that tap into our collaborative potential and explore creative ways for us to work together. For me, this project is all about the process, the tools, and most importantly, the people who make it possible. The support this has received is truely overwhelming, and inspires me to keep going.

One question though. Where can I acquire (download and print perhaps) that flier? I'd like to take a picture along with it (as most, if I'm not mistaken?).
Kindest regards,
