So, I checked my MySpace and found someone in my Friends List has made an interesting bulletin about Barack Obama is a terrorist and she's seriously scared that our country will go to shit if he's elected. I'm not going to try to persuade votes but people just need to get their info corrected and just don't go by word of mouth... This is the whole email conversation I had with them, (You probably want to read from bottom to top because that's how the message shows) I also rearrange their name so that's not their actual MySpace account. READ MORE BELOW!

I don't get how you can say someone doesn't look like they're born here... America is supposedly a melting pot, I'm not white I was born here... So I guess you're saying that I don't "look" like I was born here... I can't believe you're one of those people that think because his name sounds like Osama or Hussein in his name he's like them... That's completely prejudice if you're not aware...
I know you're from a small town and a complete Jesus freak so I'm going to stop talking about this with you because you're mind is set already and there's no way of correcting it.

i believe it, and we should research it together to find out for sure. it is factual, and even if there was only a slight CHANCE that it could even possibly be true, why not take that into consideration? i would much rather take the chance on it being true and not vote for obama than shake it off as being untrue and end up being screwed. i'm glad u haven't chosen a candidate yet, because then u can dig into it before u make your decision. normally i dig into the candidated a little more, but this year i know i don't want obama so that leaves me one choice. his name, Barack Hussein Obama, made me want to dig into him, and i found out enough to know he shouldn't run our country right away. if u don't think these things i posted are true, then how do we know the sites saying that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii are true? i don't even believe the sites that say that. just look at him... he doesn't look like he was born in the U.S. and, no, looks do not matter at all. it's just hard to believe he is who he says he is. i am all for a BLACK president. i would love that. i would have loved for Alan Keys to have been president when he was running. obama is NOT black... i just don't want to take the chance on him being a terrorist and then we have someone wanting to destroy us knowing all of our information and being in charge of us. it's not good

you actually believe that crap? I think it would've been bigger news if that was factual, and there's tons of reporters that would do the research on it and would out him before he got this far into this election... people write this stuff to get voters for McCain. I don't mind McCain supporters but this is like a new low to make such ridiculous claims... I haven't even chosen a candidate yet... I am democrat though... the info in that can't be proof of anything... or his so-called roommates are automatically called "terrorist" because they're from Pakistan... you can't say a whole country is wack just a group that they support. He's a man that actually worked his way up, he's seriously is almost the impediment of the "American Dream"
I'm not saying vote for Obama I'm just saying the accusations are just way far fetch...

well, i didn't write it. i was in a hurry when i read and then posted it. maybe next week i will read it and edit it to make it sound more serious, but i was really excited to see that people found proof obama is a terrorist. it's a really serious issue to me. to think that people will vote for some stranger to run our country who only wants to ruin us, who is dishonest, and is just completely unfit to be president scared me to death. i'm an independent voter, so it's not like i'm trying to make anyone be republican or anything. i am honestly concerned about obama somehow running the country i live in. sadly, it's not going to make a difference who runs our country next (unless the president is a terrorist, of course), because our economy is so bad. no matter who is next, it won't be fixed anytime soon. why not just vote for the non-terrorist? what harm will it do? none, but i know it will do us more harm than we can even think of to let a terrorist run our country. i just had to get it our there as soon as i saw the bulletin.

of course I'm registered... don't want to sound rude but your bulletin sounds very ignorant
Why do we have to bring Politics in here?
This is NOT the place for it.
Take your attitude, your hate and your politics and get the HELL OUT!
(Sigh) Leave it to one moron to come in here to try and wreck a good thing.

Wow I didn't mean to offend... you could have just been a little nicer about it though. It's a blog entry, it's not like I'm telling people to vote for a certain candidate it's barely about politics it's about people being prejudice... I don't see any room here for hate comments, this site is for a positive matter, but I'm sorry if you feel that way about my entry...
Hey guys,
Everyone is free to talk about whatever is on your mind. As long as things remain civil, freedom of expression is a good thing.
One goal of this project is to provide platforms for dialogue and social-change; politics is likely to be of interest to some of our members, while others may feel it has no place.
Our project as a whole is non-partisan and does not take specific political positions, nor do we advocate one candidate over another. However, we do not censor the views of our participants. Rather, we encourage participation on any level, be it in creating art or in creating a better world- whatever that may mean to you.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of our project, including those who like to talk about politics and those who don't.
Collectively, we can define what this platform becomes.
With our new site, our Crew Member Blog will be changing a bit. We will be having a "Production Blog" for featured blog entries that discuss activity related to The 1 Second Film project. But members will also be able to blog about whatever they want. Don't be surprised if some of it is political, or not political at all.
We have a pretty big crew, and I think we can all work together.
I politely wish to disagree.
One does not Vote for Art in the same sense as one votes for a candidate.
Art does not lie.
Art is a matter of personal taste, not part of a National Committee for something such as Sitting on Our Fat Butts in Washington Getting Our Wallets Fat from Taxpayers Money.
Art cannot be bribed or blackmailed and is not easily corruptible and does not send people off to fight in senseless, illegal wars based on flawed or dishonest intelligence.
Scott L. Spencer
No, art does not run for office.
But what about subversive art? What about a song like John Lennon's Imagine? Is that not political? Or what about this photo?
Art has often been used as a vehicle for expressing ideas that have changed the world. Art has also been used as propaganda, and certainly can 'lie' or be corrupt.
Point being, art is not created in a vacuum.
When looking back at work, understanding what was going on at the time politically when the work was created can often offer great insight.
For The 1 Second Film, Frame #12 really put this in perspective by raising questions about issues in the world that exist beyond this single moment.
And to put this conversation in context, it is about a blog entry, which is just a tool for our crew members to share what is on their mind. For me, people sharing what is on their mind helps put this project in a context.
That's why I think it's cool to see what is on our crew members' minds- including your views on politics and art. I also appreciate your recognizing a certain ideal in this project.
I like to be idealistic, and rise above our culture of cynicism. :)
Point taken. And what a powerful and moving photo that was and still is.
I am also perfectly aware of "Imagine" and what a powerful and moving statement that was.
Believe me, I wasn't always such a cynic. I had just as much hope as the next man...up until the morning of Tuesday, December 9, 1980.
I was at work and my youngest brother called me and told me that John Lennon had been murdered during the night.
....up until the morning of 9/11/2001 when some hopelessly brainwashed, suicidal animals thought they could crush US by slamming 2 planes into 2 buildings in NYC, one into the Pentagon and one into a field in Pennsylvania. Our country still hasn't recovered thanks to the political and governmental system of ours and our so called "Leaders" and OAF-ficials who keep
"pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind.
They try to sap your energy, incarcerate your mind."
Do you think for one minute that our Federal Government put that color coded system in place to ease our fears?
To quote Governor Tarkin from Star Wars, "FEAR will keep the local systems in line."
Yes, both Art and Music have been used to make powerful and moving political statements. ("Don't follow leaders, watch your parking meters.")
However, I was under the impression that the 1 Second Film was about ART, not politics.
Peace.
Scott L. Spencer
Hey Scott,
The 1 Second Film is about a lot of different things for a lot of different people.
For me, the long-term goal is to use art to create a platform for global collaboration and social change. The short term goal is to create a cool film that starts to bring people together.
Not sure if you have looked at the Collaboration Foundation's 5 Phase Plan, but the overall idea was very much influenced by 9/11 (see Phase 2): http://www.the1secondfi...
After 9/11, personally I felt that there was a collective feeling in the world that had no platform for expression. The only avenue that was offered to direct this collective emotion was the war (or protesting the war).
I felt there was a need to create a global community for collaboration that could use art to address challenging moments like 9/11, and offer a platform for creating dialogue and social change in creative and non-violent ways.
This is one of the core ideas driving this project. At least for me.
I would not say that The 1 Second Film is about politics. But that it is art bring created within a context of a world that is increasingly connected- where the politics of one country affect the politics of another, and where the world as a whole can work together in new ways to create art and social change.
In any case, thanks for being a part of it.

Thanks Nirvan for backing me up a little about my entry, I did think it was an open place for expressing your opinion. I did try to avoid being too political, but it's expected to have some disagreements. I do love your site and what you guys are doing, it's really one of the coolest thing I'm a part of
I am honored to be a part of it, Nirvan. Thanks. :)
