We had all split up the night before - off to see different friends.
For me, I got to see my friend named Phillip Watt who has always been an inspiration. Compact like a spring, his words and music bounce out of him. He's an explorer of life and a teacher and one of the eternal group of friends I made at the University of Cincinnati. You know this kind of friend. No matter how long it's been or how far apart you've gotten, the friendship picks up naturally as if no time has passed.
The bus got fixed, I said farewell, and off we went to pick up the 'genitals.
Thankfully we realized, woops, left George's big drum at P's house. Back again back again jiggity jig.
Rad Internet Moment 1: Nirvan put up a note on Twitter about the drum, and within minutes George was calling to make sure it was ok - since other friends having seen the Twiiter note were calling him to check about his drum!
The rain poured - it took HOURS to get to Stratford.
But boy was it worth it! I will remember the good food at Ciao Restaurant and the enthusiasm of the people who became producers that night and the generocity of George Bernardo Jr.'s family.
AND Rad Internet Moment 2: A man happened upon the Intro video on YouTube, went to the 1 Second Film website, brought his wife out to the event, had a great time and became a producer. I always wonder if interactive websites actually bring people together. Or do the websites just isolate people in a world of shallow connection, far away from the rich give and take of humans sharing space together.
It's probably an ever-shifting combo of both extremes, but tonight! Tonight, two people took the action of going out to meet the people they could have just looked at on the Internet. Our effort inspired their effort, and in that moment we acheived our mission one more time: to bring people together, that's right, one second at a time.
i'm rereading our adventure sarah. awesome that you are taking the time to note it all. im still digesting everything that happened.
Today levi and i had a lovely time with the bus at BarCamp. maybe i'll go blog about that :)
