We made it to Alexandria, IN and the World's Biggest Ball of Paint!!!
More fun than anyone expected.
Even George enjoyed it, who was, shall we say, perplexed by its inclusion on the tour. It was a sunny, chilly, perfect Indiana fall day. I really recommend visiting and painting the ball of paint as an activity that is fun for the whole family. Anyone can do it. You can be very detailed in how you paint the ball of paint, or just add a single-colored layer. We painted it with two designs! One side was, of course, the 1 Second Film logo, and the other was, of course, a jack-o-lantern. Happy Halloween!
I think I have conspicuously not mentioned Oprah in the blogs. As we draw closer to Chicago, our chances of meeting her seem to dwindle, from my perspective. Even at the ball of paint, we ran into a woman who had tried unsuccessfully for a long time just to see the show live! But it is usual to experience the unusual with this project. Miracles happen with the 1 Second Film, soooo we'll see. For example, there is the miracle that there is another documentary film project who left the same day as us from the opposite side of the country and is already in Chicago, wanting to meet Oprah, and trying to see if we can help them. WHAT???!?!?! What, what?!?!!!
Meanwhile, one more person got to have their road trip dream come true.
Levi Brewster has often said how much he can't wait to see the bus parked out in the field behind his parents' house, behind the barn, with everyone sitting together around a fire. Well. It was just as good as he thought it would be!
We had a plan-of-action pow-wow for the next day - Oprah day. With the prospects looking bleak, we laughed that we were pretty much following the journey of The Muppet Movie and were at the point where Nirvan should do as Kermit did and go off to give himself a pep talk while we sat around the fire.
