This holiday break comes with two big breakthroughs for our project.
First, on the web front, I spoke with web mike 2 days ago and was told that there was a breakthrough with the new registration process! Everyone has gone on break now, so we wont be able to implement the technical ideas till a week after the new year, but still, it's exciting that things are back on track.
Meanwhile, last night i woke up at 3am with a head full of ideas. Dragged myself out of bed and spent a couple of hours writing everything down. Basically, ended up writing a treatment for our making-of documentary. I've been having this stuff floating around in my head for a while, so it felt good to finally translate all the ideas into words.
I left a painting outside of the parents of Daniel Johnston's house. I feel kind of like a stalker. Oh well. It was fun.
So, more news coming in regarding our site development...
I spoke with our ciplex project manager, Michal, earlier this week about our development schedule, and was given an honest and somewhat discouraging asessment. In short, accomplishing the tasks as designed is proving to be much more complicated/difficult than had been anticipated.
What is holding things up is the new registration process. Drupal is designed to work a certain way out of the box, and we are attempting to add/modify that process in order to make the process simple for folks to use while helping our project accomplish specific things.

Just bought a book at the Betty Griffin House for one dollar. Looked up the price of the book on the internet and it turns out the top price it goes for which matches its condition is $450. I have god amount of antique books including a first edition Jules Verne Journey to the North Pole which I bought for 50 cents which top price is $1,500. I always seem to have a good stike of luck since I missed out on th violin. Even though I would really like to have that thing more then any other antique book.
There was a meeting today at Ciplex to address our web development issues. The development on our new registration process has been dragging on and remains incomplete. Meanwhile, a lot of additional functionality remains unpolished and things are behind schedule in general. Ahhh, gotta love web development.
I'm told that Ciplex has moved some resources around, and that this upcomming week we will see a lot of results. Michal, our project manager, is going to be looking at things over the weekend. Hopefully by Monday we will have a more detailed diagnosis, and things will be back on track.
Kind of some bad news to report...
there have been some frustrating developments with our web development. Things are behind schedule, and moving at a slow pace. I was in touch with Ciplex two weeks ago to discuss these issues, and they were to bring on a new developer last week, which has supposedly happened, but we are yet to see any results, and I am beginnig to feel concerned.
I spoke with our project manager a moment ago, and he shares in my frustration. He is going to look into the situation again and hopefully we will have a better understanding of what is going on by tomorrow. Meanwhile, our milestones have been pushed back.
I am a regular ebayer for antiques, military stuff and such. One day while looking up violins going through all those pages I found one that interested me. So I clicked it and looked at the pictures. It was beautiful. I read the description and the guy said that the violin is "Possibly Amati" but I decided to check and compare the photos provided with photos of Amati violins. Well, I went to google images and found a picture that seemed to match up with the violin. I proceeded to match up the grain and they were identical. The pictures that I was comparing with ones on ebay were from 1988 in a museum up in New York of a Amati violin from 1574 and that ain't a typing mistake.
a friend spotted this Fader Video that happened to catch my pitch to Michel Gondry (about 3/4 in). This was at Family Books about a month ago. In reality, I was the very last person in line. The line was long, but well worth the wait.
