Yuri Norstein- One of my Favorite Animators

Hey everyone, just saw one of my favorite animators on the home page of YouTube. Check out some of the beautiful work of Yuri Norstein:

When I was at CalArts, Mr. Norstein visited and screened some of his work, Including 10 minutes of his work in progress, The Overcoat, which he has been working on for over 15 years. The Overcoat was screenedin absolute silence (the sound isn't done) and was oe of the most breathtaking cinematic experiences I have ever been a part of. Norstein's attention to detail is heartbreaking. His perfectionism has earned him the nickname "The Golden Snail."

this work is very inspiring to me. i think the process in whch Yuri makes his film comes through. I hope he is able to finish The Overcoat.

i've been writing a narrative for our non-profit. sketching out details for the evolution of the project. we are in third place over at the Ideablob, but i don't feel like emailing everyone individually, even though i know that is the best way to get people to vote. there are too many other things to do.

participating in the Pasadena Doo Dah Parade this weekend. hopefully our fliers will arrive by tommorow! Looking forward to seeing some of you there.
