Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
Things have slowed down; I'm not sure why, but we haven't had any new producers in a bit. Meanwhile, we have been getting busy getting organized. Gianelle has been comming in the last few days; we have just been getting up to speed, setting up e-mail accounts, organizing piles of email, putting out calls for Interns, etc. Meanwhile, Janeen has been reviewing Drupal and going over our web site plan to help prioritize and budget our time and resources. Resources are a tricky thing to budget, we had been pretty steady raising funds, but after IMDb dropped our producer credits, things have been more spotty with fundraising spikes tied to increases in web traffic. we are still getting by, but strategies for fundraising are shifting.
jason and i talked today and reviewed short-term and long-term web plans. we will be creating a in an effort to make things less conceptual and hopefully a bit more engaging. Mike and I worked out a new tag line for the home page- it now says:
instead of the previous:
One second can change the world.
which is something I believe, but i think the new tag line is more direct and accessable. hopefully this will still attract the worldchangers, while also bringing in the bargain hunters. but who knows? i have never done any of this before.
I just spent the last 4 hours designing a new sign-up sheet for hitting the streets. Gianelle and I are planning to go out and sell some credits on Thursday, in part so Gianelle can better train the volunteer street team we are assembling on how to pitch the film, and in part because we need the money!
Tomorrow Janeen and Gianelle are both coming over for our first group meeting. It's great that we have a team to start getting things done, but I'm a little stressed that we aren't raising money, because I'm not sure how long we will be able to keepthe team going. Hopefully the things we are working on will bring some more funds in. We have enough set aside to survive for a little bit; but we will need to raise a chunk of change to put the road-trip together and make the site upgrades. there is no shortage of ideas and things to do, but we need to be extremely efficient with every dollar we've have raised.
not sure what will happen next... but I am commited to taking the road-trip after this summer, even if i have to sell credits along the way to pay for the gas. it's time to go.
