Sabrina's Challenge

Sabrina Taylor originally donated $125 to become one of our top Executive Producers, and our #1 'woman of color producer.' She took this one step further and vowed (on camera) that no woman of color would donate more than her. The very next day, Craig, Ja, and I went to the mall to sell credits. We were having a tough time even getting people to take a flier until we met Dana Hanna and Vernell Roberts, two women visiting from Miami. These ladies were two of the nicest folks we met all day; no sooner had we given them a flyer than they donated $4, no questions asked.
Even though they had already donated, we wanted to explain the concept to them in greater detail so that they could have a more complete sense of what the project was all about. We were showing them pictures of our various producers, and when Sabrina's came up we mentioned Sanrina's Challenge...we hade no idea what was about to happen next. Dana and Vernell's eyes lit up; they exchanged a look, reached into their purse, and wrote us a check for $135 right there in the middle of the mall! They weren't nearly as interested in outbidding the celebrities, but Sabrina's Challenge touched a nerve. Vernell and Dana even recorded a personal message for us to deliver to Sabrina: "Sorry Sabrina, it's gonna be a battle!"
We couldn't believe what was happening... We just met with Sabrina and showed her the video of Dana and Vernell out-biding her. We thought it was pretty funny, but Sabrina wasn't having it. She took out her purse and gave us another $25 cash, bringing her total now to $150. And her message to Danna and Vernell: "Bring it on sisters, bring it on!" Dana and Vernell are probably on a plane headed back to Miami right now, but we will be sure to let them know that Sabrina is back on top again, and then we will see what happens next...
We have posted video of Sabrina's Challenge on-line, and will try to keep posting video as the battle escalates... how high will it go? and what will happen if we ever achieve our goal of meeting Oprah? time will tell...
