Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
Nia Vardalos, the writer and creator of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, is our newest Executive Producer!
It's kind of a funny story. Nia got in touch recently to ask if we ever received a $500 donation she sent by mail over a year ago...
Um... no. I would have remembered that. $500 is amongst the larger individual donations we've received, and makes a huge difference. Plus Nia is the Academy Award nominated creator of one of the most successful independent films of all time. So it would have stood out.
We tracked her donation down, and apparently there was a mix-up in the mail. The check had been sent to Filmmakers Alliance, our fiscal sponsor, but we never received the follow-up check from FA, and had no record of the donation, so we didn't know it was missing. A year later, it's all cleared up, and we are honored to have Nia as one of our Executive Producers. :)
Nia is super cool. Not only for donating, but for taking the time to follow up. And she is in the middle of directing a new film!
I'm continually inspired by the generosity and awesomeness of the people supporting this project. Hopefully we will be able to grab an interview with Nia down the line. I'm sure she has some interesting thoughts on independent filmmaking.
If anyone else has sent us a check in the mail, but has not yet been credited, please contact us! I'm now concerned that a bunch of other Oscar nominees are wondering why we never cashed their donation...
In other news: I've been laying low this week with a cold. Meanwhile, development on our new site continues to inch forward. We hit a slow patch recently with the programming of the custom 6 step registration process, but I've seen some progress, and it's pretty exciting. Still not working entirely. Overall, we are a bit behind schedule, so I've asked Ciplex for a revised schedule.
We're also going to be moving offices soon, as our current donated office space at FotoKem is scheduled to go under construction.
So that's what's goin on.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I wanted to give a Big Thanks to everyone who has joined recently, and who has continued to support this project! We have a lot to be thankful for.
Best to all,
n
