Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.

I'm not sure if I have emphasized just how awesome Juli Crockett is. Juli is the lead singer of The Love Punks, (AKA The Evangenitals), and she quit her $35 hour executive marketing job to help The 1 Second Film full-time over the summer.
Juli helped shape our press release and yesterday sent out over 200 press releases, one by one. We have been getting a really great response so far. I did an interview yesterday, and another two today. Several more interviews are booked this week. Juli is coordinating all of this, even though she is in Vegas right now (still transitioning from her other job). she is doing the job of three people, plus keeping up with her old job...
I'm not sure how I was planning to do all of this without Juli, but things sometimes have a way of falling into place. Aside from being the lead singer of the amazing band now going on the road trip with us, Juli is also a retired undefeated boxing champion (the Million Dollar Baby was based on her life), an accomplished theater director, and working on her PHD philosophy doctorate. Kind of cool.
With Juli's help, the 1 second film is starting to get out into the world. Today a newspaper in Vancouver called; the reported had earlier interviewed Blaine Thurier from The New Pornographers (Blaine loaned Steve Buscemi $1 at Sundance). I think it's awesome our producers are helping handle press; speaking of which, are any of our producers fluent in French? We need someone who can speak French to do a radio interview representing the project. We also need a producer in Pheonix who might be willing to do a loval TV interview. Contact us if interested.
I'm excited/nervous about all this press. I'm doing our first national TV interview on Thursday for the CBC in Canada, and then another for CTV (also in Canada) early Friday morning- super early, 5 am style.
The streak of Canadian press is because a lot of our media contacts have been through Kyle MacDonald, one of our Canadian producers who traded one red paperclip for a house last year. Kyle got a lot of press, especially in Canada. If you haven't heard Kyle's story, head over to his blog, or read the book he just wrote and is currently promoting. Rumor is Kipling, Saskatchewan (who traded Kyle a house) is about to unveil the World's Biggest Paperclip in a few days. That's gonna be a fun party.
In other news, the 1 Terabyte Lacie hardrive totally fried on us. The data expert could not retrieve any of the 50 hours of digitized footage on it, or edited projects, which totally sucks. I would suggest staying away from Lacie external harddrives, especially the larger ones. Apparently, the way they are configured internally makes them susceptable to crashing and impossible to retrieve data from. It totally sucks; the warrany expired- the drive had cost $800 plus all the time and footage that was on it... we have to start digitizing all over. This time, we are trying Maxtor drives, hopefully with better luck.
Levi and I will be visiting a potential workspace for the school bus tomorrow- we need to figure out where to put the bus before we even buy a bus.
Best news of all, we had a few more producers joinour crew today from around thw world, including Bader Al-Hijiri from Kuwait! We also had another new Executive Producer today; Terry Thomas from Basking Ridge, NJ chipped in the big $100. Thanks Terry! We really appreciate it. We are getting closer to our bus and the Road to Oprah...
Oh, and Sarah Peters, who I went running with yesterday, wants to put together a 1 Second Cabaret fundraiser next month, which could be amazing.
This is looking to be a crazy summer.
best to all,
n
