Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
We are driving through cornfields, looking for biodiesel on our way to Chicago. The last few days have been filled with family and wonderful moments with perfect strangers.
Last night we were in Indiana, campfire on a cornfield, with Levi's family. It was really beautiful, sunset and sunrise. There was frost on the corn stalks. The day before we were near Columbus Ohio with Sarah's family. Both very warm stops, giving all a chance to catch up.
Connecticut was a really lovely visit to Stratford, and a great restaurant called Ciaos where the owner, Vincent, gave us all a free meal and even became one of our newest Executive Producers. The Mayor was there and joined up as well :) Stratford was near the hometown of our drummer, George Bernardo, who was able o set up the stop last second style with the help of friends anf family. We raised several hundred dollars and met a bunch of great folks, all very supportive and encouraging.
There has been so much enthusiasim for what we are doing every where we go; it's always encouraging to see the reaction folks have to this project as we travel.
We entered more producer names and are now nearing 8,700 Producers- almost 1,000 new producers while on this trip. That's pretty amazing.
Technicaly, we have been running into weird issues with power; I think there is something going on with our inverter- our dv deck is no longer working and neither is a hard drive that i had been uploading all our pictures from the trip too. I hope we haven't lost all those photos. There are a lot of great pics that I haven't been able to upload to Flickr yet because our internet connection has been too slow. The same applies for uploading video; we tried to upload another video last night, but the connection speed was too slow.
It's impossible to keep up with it all or to record it all- we are very underequipped with one camera and no sound man. Next time we do something like this, remind me to get a bgger film crew and have a team of editors :)
For now, we can't even digitize our footage unless we can get our deck working again. Editing video while filming, travelling, and setting up presentations has proven to be very challenging. We have a lot of great footage, but have not had time to transfer it and get it edited. We will be working on all of that when we get back.
So we are a few hours away from Chicago where Oprah does her show. We have no idea if Oprah is even in Chicago as she travels quite a bit. There is a really good chance we wont get to meet her on this trip. We talked about this possibility last night over a campfire; everyone seems to agree that the journey is the destination, and that so far, it has been amazing.
best to all,
n
