Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
Today marks a big step as we have finally finished (and filed) our application for non-profit 501(c)3 status for the Collaboration Foundation.
Our completed application was 130 pages long(!) including By Laws, a Conflict of Interest policy, accounting statements, a narrative of activities, signatures of our Board of Directors, and various forms. It's a fairly complicated process.
Fortunately, we had the guidance of our pro-bono legal team at McDermitt, Will, & Emery. Big thanks to Christopher Lovejoy and Ben Wolkov for their incredible diligence and persistence in seeing this through.
Next we await review (and hopefully approval) from the IRS. This could take anywhere from 3 to 9 months. If approved, the 501(c)(3) status will allow us to qualify for grants while also making donations tax-deductible in the US.
This will be a crucial step in building project infrastructure for the Collaboration Foundation moving forward.
I'm pretty excited. Seems like a lot of things that have been in development are starting to come together!
now back to web development!
