Dr. Drew Pinsky becomes our Producer

Saturday we started painting our bus; before the volunteers arrived, I ran to the local hardware store to get supplies. By chance, I ran into Dr. Drew Pinsky from Loveline as he was buying lightbulbs. I have learned to carry 1 Second Film fliers with me everywhere I go just because of things like this. I introduced myself, gave him a flier, and told him about The 1 Second Film. Dr. Drew is a really nice guy- he thought the project was really interesting and wanted to become a producer on the spot! He chipped in $20, which I put toward the paint. :) Thanks Dr. Drew, and welcome to our crew! Friday night we had projected designs on the side of the bus to prepare outlines for volunteers. I cleaned up some of the outlines by putting down blue tape to define the logo. By the time our volunteers started to arrive, we were rady to go.

We had a really nice turnout of producers/volunteers who braved the hot Pasadena sun to help paint.

Road to Oprah painting volunteers

It was super hot, so big thanks to everyone who put in some sweat.

we also painted clouds on the inside, to make it feel a bit roomier (we will be in here for 30 days!)

and the unwrapping of the windows...

There is still a lot of detail work and clean up to do, but it certainly doesn't look like a school bus anymore!

Quick flashback to 2 weekends ago:

By the end of Saturday, we had almost finished one side as well as the inside. Levi, Mike and I stayed til midnight projecting and prepping the OTHER side of the bus as well. We had only been able to prep one side of the bus Friday night because our battery needed a recharge.

Here are some pics of the projecting process: laptop, video projector, and bus. Levi is tracing the lettering.

I could modfy the design directly on the bus by moving layers in photoshop. The video projector we borrowed is a broken old clunker that projects 3 slightly overlapping images, which makes it a challenge to trace the right outline, but it still works. This is the same technique we used to make our $8 banner.

Here we are goofing. We are planning to add some photos of our producers to the side of the bus and in the windows. A company called Cranky Signs contacted us after finding our project via our Zaadz profile and offered to donate some vinyl wrapping for our bus!

If you would like to BE ON OUR BUS, please send a high res pic of you holding our flier. Download our flier here, or just take a pic w/ our flier on the computer screen- or draw your own flier/poster that says "www.the1secondfilm.com". Be creative. Group/family pics are also welcome! We need very HIGH RES pics.

We may put your pic on the side of our bus, in a window, or on the back of our bus within a grid. Send them ASAP!

We got home at 2 in the morning, pretty exhausted, but happy that the bus is getting painted. Levi and Fiona joined me Sunday and we pretty much finished the other side.
