Celebrity Surprise- Superbad's Jonah Hill donated $20 using PayPal :)

Micro-Financing a film online comes with its share of surprises. First of all, it's nearly impossible to keep track of everyone, so you never know whom you might be working with.

One of the latest surprises is that Jonah Hill, the super funny star of Superbad, has been a producer of The 1 Second Film for the last 2 years! This just came to my attention after Laura Millar left this comment on Jonah's producer profile.

It turns out that Jonah donated online using PayPal way back in the day, before he had made it huge, and before we had been feature on sites like digg. We were still entering names by hand when Jonah sent us $20 via PayPal. He became Producer #1,185 and sent a nice email along with his donation wishing us the best.

What a cool guy! Superbad is currently the #1 movie in America an Jonah has become a pretty busy guy. I've never met Hill, but I'm happy to see one of our producers doing so well and having fun with it.

Jonah's donation, combined with thousands of other producers eventually enabled us to build this site, which allows our producers to connect and collaborate more as we scale up.

Thousands of small donations also helped us buy this school bus that we are preparing to drive across the country on our Road to Oprah tour. We are still fundraising to raise money for the conversion, insurance, fuel, food, etc, and really appreciate all the folks who have joined our crew recently!

We had 2 Executive producers donate today, including David Nuckolls, (an Executive Producer at CNN!). These donations really make a big difference as we scrape a buget together dollar-by-dollar. Lack of money continues to be the single biggest struggle. Support like this continues to be an inspiration as well as a financial necessity.

I'd also like to highlight Mike O'Toole and Jonathan Carr, two of our producers in Boston who just connected on our site and are looking to organize a Boston producer crew to help spread the word.
