The Big Picture

new 5 Phase Plan

Today I changed the title of Phase 5 of the Collaboration Foundation's 5 Phase Plan.

The previous title of Phase 5 was "The 11,111 Second Film." Kind of esoteric. The new title is "The Big Picture" which I think is much clearer, and doesn't box the project into a conceptual framework regarding time-length.

I think the new title ultimately will help articulate the big picture of what this project and the Collaboration Foundation is all about.

The 5 Phase Plan originally developed while playing with graphic design ideas after I had The 2 Second Film idea. While playing with logos, I sketched out The 11,111 Second Film, and then began to backward engineer potential ways to actually make it.  The idea is to make an animated feature film during thousands of simultaneous collaborative events, with each event painting one-second of the animation. This idea is still exciting for me, and is one of the driving forces behind developing The 1 Second Film project into the Collaboration Foundation.

The new title, 'The Big Picture' came about casually in the last few days. For the thousandth time, I was describing the project to someone. I'm constantly refining the pitch in an attempt to clarify the idea. This time, I kept using the phrase 'The Big Picture' to describe both the film and the conceptual goal. I felt the phrase was a better title than The 11,111 Second Film- which was always a bit awkward to pronouce :)

I feel that this change in title is similar to the change in title of our non-profit from "The 1 Second Foundation" to "The Collaboration Foundation" that I blogged about in What's In a Name?

It marks another little step as this project moves from being conceptual toward something that is hopefully easier to understand, and easier to articulate. Key steps toward eventually making it real.

If you have any thoughts about the new name, I'd love to hear em.

thanks :)

Thanks Tammy,

The 1 Second Film will still be the "World's Biggest Shortest Film"

The Big Picture is a longer project, down the line...

That's really cool

bit of a change from the worlds biggest shortest film but i think it gets the message across.

Also sometimes when you give people a number they think more about the number than the actual project. "11,111 wow.. that's a big number!" :P

And i do agree with what you said regarding "doesn't box the project into a conceptual framework regarding time-length."

Keep it up - Tam
