Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
Check out where T1SF somehow ended up in this little article on Wired Magazine:
An Epic History of Snack Culture
It goes from 15,000 BC to ...The 1 Second Film!? at the end of a time-line that includes the 10 Commandments, potato chips, cassete tapes, AFV, and YouTube. It's in this month's Wired Mag print edition as well. Pretty absurd.
Quick update on our new site: Jason was able to fix the big bug that was deleting profiles. It was actually 2 bugs and had to do with the way Drupal deals with hidden fields- which were being erased by non admins. It's pretty neat to see how a good programmer can piece together all the little clues our beta testers give to track down a bug and then fix it. We are now able to focus on the other little things we want to fix before launch. Lots of little things.
The other major news is that we have been offered free hosting (donated) - with a dedicated server(!) from Pair.com, one of the world's premiere web hosts. Having a reliable host and a dedicated server means our site will be able to handle tons of traffic once we launc. We were hoping to figure out hosting before launching so our site won't crash if we get hit by a traffic spike. Jason Salter recommended Pair as the most reliable hosting company, as did many other developers in the Drupal community. We contacted Pair, shared our beta site, and explained T1SF. They really liked our project, and understood we had a limited budget. They also saw the potential for our new site to get hit by traffic beyond our means and offered to donate services!
It's awesome that Pair is as excited about hosting our project as we are about having our project hosted by Pair. I'm constantly amazed by the generous support we are receiving. It will take most of this week to switch over, set up a server, and 'load balance'. We are getting some technical advice from the folks at The Onion and Lullabot about setting up a high traffic Drupal site. I'm sure there will be more issues to deal with once we launch, but we are trying to do our homework ahead of time. I'm really hoping to launch by March 8th... but still a lot to do.
back to it- n
This is unreal! Epic in it's own right. I mean, in the company of the Ten Commandments. Pretty Impressive man.
