I've been researching for grant writing for the Collaboration Foundation.
One of the first tasks is to define the social need the organization will address. Juli, Dana and I were discussing this the other day, and defined the need as a response to the challenges of globalization; globalization creates a world were we are all connected, whether we realize it or not. The connections may seem invisible, but they are very tangible. while this creates a host of challenges, i.e. climate change and conflict, it also offers new opportunities for people to exchange ideas and work together in ways that have never been possible. The potential solutions to the issues will come from the same collective actions that create the problems.
We passed 9,000 Producers today! :)
Man, I remember when a few hundred producers seemed like an absurd amount. And I remember when we reached 1,000- it was during our trip to Sundance when Craig and I were sneaking into parties and getting donations from celebs. I just went back and looked at my blog entry from then.
That was almost 3 years ago... Man, I must admit, I had no idea I would be working on this for so long! But somehow this project has continued to grow, thanks to more people who continue to stumble across it and have been moved to lend support as producers.
The people joining together to produce this film are really diverse. I wanted to introduce some of our newest producers via their 'perfect moments'. We ask our producers to choose a 'perfect moment' from their life to make into a one second film. Here are a few shared by some of our newest producers.

The shaking first began when I logged into my Takepart.com account and read a blog by Giulia Rozzi. The blog was listed under the film category and that caught my attention. Saying that I was not prepared for what I read and listened to is an understatement. Please judge for yourself the actions by Fox journalist, John Gibson and his colleagues. Listen to the link provided within the following blog link: John Gibson's and his colleagues' actions at Fox regarding Heath Ledger in his life and most sadly in his death are beyond explanation and excuse. The Internet GenerationSubmitted by selanderbr on January 23, 2008 - 5:51pm. technologyIt's amazing how in a few short years, we have really defined our generation. The internet used to be simple tool used to research and discover history. Now it is making history. People can connect easier than ever, companies can sell product faster, and we can all unite together and change the world with the click of a mouse. The greatest thing though, that has come from this fast way to get information is non-profit organizations like this one. These organizations enable Hollywood to take a step back and examine what really matters, and enable us to contribute a small portion to make the world a better place for the future. doo dah paradeSubmitted by nirvan on January 22, 2008 - 9:19pm.Tuba Produces FilmSubmitted by Tuba on January 22, 2008 - 6:07pm. my introductionGreetings Producers!
