FotoKem has recently completed work on Kevin Bacon's new film, "Death Sentence". We did the entire film end-to-end, including the film processing, dailies, digital intermediate and the video mastering. So when you see the film and it looks beautiful, don't be surprised. Support our collaboration and check out Kevin's new movie. In the film, his son is murdered by gang members and he decides to take the law into his own hands. Kevin seems to always seek out interesting and different projects, so it's bound to be good. Check out the trailer here. http://www.apple.com/tr...
Only 3 weeks til we hit the road! and we are waaaay behind the mountain of things we are trying to get done. i expected this to be a lot of work, and it's living up to the expectations. Each day we are confirming bookings across and presentations while following up with schools and volunteers across the country.
Getting the bus registered, insurance, and researching electrical. Converting a school bus to a bio-diesel RV is no small task! We need to convert the power, build the bunks/living quarters, the rooftop stage, and credit stand caboose... all in 3 weeks! Plus I need to work on the vinyl wrapping designs and all that as well. And where is that newsletter I was working on? oh- right where I left it. Waiting for its turn. Intro video, emails, press release, budgets, phone calls, errands.
Dear friends, peers and fans,
Gerardo Betancourt (The Geeworld Studios), in association with Habit Forming Films, LLC, and A.P. Stack, proudly unveils the website for "The Hollywood Informant", a black-and-white film noir production that delves into corruption, murder, and deceit in prohibition-era Los Angeles.
Synopsis: Hollywood, 1928 - During the murder investigation of an undercover cop, two vice officers scramble to find the true identity of an elusive individual who's only known as "the informant": a killer, and possibly a cop, who tips off the mob to the whereabouts of the police during booze runs. The plot thickens when the vice officers stumble across a mysterious, seductive woman who claims to be police mole, but who they believe could be the informant. "She claims innocence. They claim guilt."
I just saw The 11th Hour yesterday and it was incredible. The only disappointing thing, for me, is that neither The 11th Hour nor An Inconvenient Truth really got into the tremendous impact that factory farming has on the environment, deforestation, etc.
There are allusions made to it visually, but no one in these films ever TALKS about the connection between the massive meat consumption in the US, the degraded conditions of the animals, chemicals that go into the food and the land/air, and the tremendous waste, both in the land being used to grow grain for animals that feed the few, whereas the farming land could be used to feed the many, and in the "means of production" of the meat industry itself.
Micro-Financing a film online comes with its share of surprises. First of all, it's nearly impossible to keep track of everyone, so you never know whom you might be working with.
One of the latest surprises is that Jonah Hill, the super funny star of Superbad, has been a producer of The 1 Second Film for the last 2 years! This just came to my attention after Laura Millar left this comment on Jonah's producer profile.
I'll let the MP3s speak for themselves, but basically I do a casual podcast where I chat about what I'm up to in the way of arts and entertainment projects. Keeping it real, I invite my production partner for a few episodes. Peep it out at MikeOcast.blogspot.com or from the source at gcast.com/u/mphelanotoole
Interesting stories abound regarding hanging with celebrities at work, as well as geek stuff, and far less interesting insider shit. If you are interested in media and feel like some laughs, take a listen and leave me comments or email at mikeovideo@gmail.com
Looking to build exposure, so tell your friends or share the link. Better yet, since it's all honest and from "the streets," if it sounds like you dig what I do, then ADD ME TO YOUR CREW HERE AT THE 1. We'll be getting a promotional crew together soon, shooting grassroots stuff related to the 1 as well as a lil' street team thing down the road, so keep in touch. I also give the 1 a shout out on the 'cast
Saturday we started painting our bus; before the volunteers arrived, I ran to the local hardware store to get supplies. By chance, I ran into Dr. Drew Pinsky from Loveline as he was buying lightbulbs. I have learned to carry 1 Second Film fliers with me everywhere I go just because of things like this. I introduced myself, gave him a flier, and told him about The 1 Second Film. Dr. Drew is a really nice guy- he thought the project was really interesting and wanted to become a producer on the spot! He chipped in $20, which I put toward the paint. :) Thanks Dr. Drew, and welcome to our crew! To add Dr. Drew to your crew, visit Dr. Drew's Producer Profile = http://the1secondfilm.com/producer/7715
If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

Here are some more pics of last weekend's bus painting taken by Elise Belknap, one of our newest producers who came to lend a hand. I especially love these great shots of Mason with rainbow. Very Muppet Movie. elise's flickr link
